It’s so hard to believe we’re in the season of year-end reflections and goal setting for 2018. I wanted to do a recap of my #2017MakeNine. It’s not a ton different than my check in that I did in July, but I still think it’s important to recap the remainder of the year prior to setting my goals for 2018!

#2017MakeNine | Jackets

1- Kelly Anorak – Check!

I love this jacket so much – my feelings definitely haven’t changed since I was gushing about it in July. It even made it as my number 1 hit of the year. Safe to say this was an excellent decision to make this year.

Completed – May 2017

2 – Lonetree Jacket and Vest- Half Check

Same comments hold true as they did in July – I set out to make both the jacket and the vest. I’ve made the jacket. I would like to make the vest, but I don’t think it’s on my Must Make Right Now list. Between the Kelly and the Lonetree, I’m set with “lightweight” jackets!

Completed – April 2017

3- Clare Coat – Check!

In July, I gave this one a subsitution for my Chloe Coat instead. But, I got a second wind on the Clare Coat and made it right before Thanksgiving this year. I am really glad I made this coat (and the Chloe Coat too!) I am always wearing a handmade jacket now.

Completed – November 2017

#2017MakeNine | Pants

4 – Chi Town Chinos – Not Completed

I’ve pulled the pattern out multiple times and never pulled the trigger. This might be a repeat on the #2018MakeNine or I could put the Sasha Trousers on instead. So stay tuned!

Not Completed

5 – Birkin Flares – Substitution!

So, I really wanted to make the Birkins at the beginning of the year. But, since then, I’ve made 4 more pairs of Gingers ( 2 denim blue, 1 pair of failed white jeans, 1 pair of failed black  jeans and 1 pair of floral jeans) and a pair of Morgan Jeans (coming soon to the blog!). If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? Closet Case Patterns – you win at jeans patterns for me! I have so many more pairs of Ginger Jeans in my future – 2018 the focus is going to be on fitting and perfecting my jeans making skills!

Completed – January, March, April, May, and July 2017

#2017MakeNine | Dresses and Tops

6 – Betty Dress – Not Completed

This is another one where I’ve pulled the pattern out a billion times and haven’t pulled the trigger. I’m really nervous I won’t like it on me? I’m not sure it’s going to happen for me – but it’s always something that is in the back of my mind.

Not Completed

7 – Cheyenne Tunic – Substitution!

I really did want to make this pattern this year. I think I am nervous it’s going to be too boxy on me. I do think I might have found my button down pattern of choice with the Kalle Shirt + Sleeve Expansion Pack – so I think I’ll substitute it for me!

Completed – December 2017

8 – Bowline Sweater – Check!

No changes here since July – I made this last January and my husband was like well, that looks interesting? So, it’s definitely not for me. And there is no photographic evidence because my photographer told me it looked awful!

Completed – January 2017

9 – Lane Raglan – Check!

Love this top so much! So happy I made it.

Completed – June 2017

I would say that 7 out of 9 is a decent run at my goal. I’m not the best keeper of goals that I set so I’ll take that as a win. I look forward to putting together my #2018MakeNine because now that I’ve been sewing for a year and a half I really know what types of patterns I like and what works well for me. Stay tuned next week for my #2018MakeNine!
