It doesn’t take you looking around my blog too long to see that I am a huge Sew Over It fan! Almost all their patterns immediately make my to-sew list and the Heather Dress is no exception! I put off making this dress as I was nervous about some fitting issues, but decided to take the plunge last weekend and sew up my first Heather dress. The Heather Dress is my dream dress! It is extremely comfortable, has pockets, in a beautiful knit and works well for casual and more formal occasions! I … View Post

As a Ginger Jeans fan, I was so excited when Heather announced the Sew Your Dream Jeans online class and that it would include a mid-rise version of the amazing Ginger Jeans pattern. I’ve made two of the low rise Ginger Jeans and LOVE them, but a someone who isn’t a huge fan of high rise jeans on myself, a mid-rise was a nice compromise between the very low rise jeans to a higher rise pair of jeans. The class going live + a rare Friday off with nothing else to do led to a day of jeans sewing! … View Post

We’ve been having some amazing temperatures here in Virginia. February feels like May and I am not complaining! This weekend, I decided that I was in need of some new tops in my wardrobe and decided to go into my stash for some inspiration. The first new addition to my wardrobe this weekend was this Sew Over It Silk Cami. I have made a handful of these tops – mainly when I first started sewing. In the past, I had a lot of issues with the facing sitting flat across my chest. I decided to do a … View Post

Sometimes I think about those RTW tops I’ve always steered away from at stores because “Oh that won’t look good on me…” or “That’s not me…” and how now I dive right in with sewing patterns. This is a perfect example of a top that I LOVE but would have never picked up in a store. I’ve admired Sew Caroline’s patterns for a while, but have never sewn one before. When the Primrose Peplum top came out, I sewed it up immediately last Sunday night. It is such a cute and flattering top that is … View Post

I think I carry around some emotional baggage about pencil skirts. I have extremely short legs – I am not too short, measuring in at 5’4 and a half (the half is really important!) but I swear my legs are disproportionately short for my height. Because of this, I have always struggled with RTW skirts. I used to try and try and try to wear them when I was in high school and college, but without a doubt, I always looked terribly shorter than I already was and it was just not flattering. This was … View Post

It’s time for another Me Made Monday! This week I’m talking about my Saiph Tunic by Paper Cut Patterns styled with my Ginger Jeans. I should really call this make My Love/Hate Relationship with Rayon. I saw this floral rayon at Stitch Sew Shop and knew immediately that it would be perfect for this project. It was such a great weight and texture and I knew the circle skirt would be so flowy with the rayon fabric! What I didn’t take into account is how finick-ey it was! Let’s not get … View Post
