The Arenal Top
When I was browsing the Itch to Stitch website I immediately was drawn to the Arenal Top. I can’t have enough swingy tops in my wardrobe and I loved the features of the Arenal Top – the contrast yoke, hankerchief hem and the beautiful narrow V-neck. To be honest, it was also an opportunity for me to give v-necks a go. They terrify me and it was the perfect reason to give it a try!
The team at Raspberry Creek Fabrics helped me pick out this beautiful rayon spandex navy floral and recommended an olive jersey for contrast. I love how the two fabrics paired together. The team at RCF is always the best about coordinates – I’m still in LOVE with my Sloane Sweater I made a few weeks back. Olive isn’t a color I have a lot of in my wardrobe, but I think I need more of it now!
The Arenal Top, thanks to ITS’ amazing instructions, was easy to put together but a step up from your normal basic knit t-shirt. My fear of the v-neck I think made it more complicated, but I made it through in the end and while not perfect, I think I can perfect it if I tried it again.
This was a three machine top – I used my sewing machine, serger and my coverstitch machine so all the seams are finished beautifully and I’m obsessed with the result!

Liana Jeans
I have been on a jeans making frenzy recently and I knew I wanted to make the Liana Jeans. I used my favorite jeans fabric, the Cone Mills jeggings denim from D&H Fabrics Co which led to another great pair of jeans. They are much roomier than my Ash Jeans that I made a few weeks ago and I think they gave a really good fit straight out of the pattern!
The instructions for the Liana Jeans were super clear and there’s a great sewalong as well for any steps that you stumble along the way on. On my next pair, I think I would want to grade in on the waist (the opposite from the Ash Jeans) as I found myself pulling them up throughout the day. Additionally, the belt loops didn’t accommodate my normal belt so that just requires me to make them a little “bigger” next time.
I generally get pretty lucky with fitting straight off the pattern so I didn’t make any adjustments to this pattern either – which is a huge win around here!
