A couple weeks ago, a few sewing Instagram friends got together “virtually” to plan a holiday sewing Instagram party and we landed on the Halifax Hoodie because it’s such a great pattern and a quick and easy sew during this crazy holiday time!
I am so excited to be sharing my version of the Halifax Hoodie – my second version I’ve made since I bought the pattern a few weeks ago (you can check out my first version here!).

I chose to sew up View D – a traditional hoodie with a funnel neck instead of a hood. I have always loved this view on others and while not usually a style I normally pick for myself, I decided to give it a go this time!
I used some of my favorite french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. Unfortunately this fabric is now sold out, but you can pre-order the oatmeal solid french terry and some other variations on the oatmeal here.
This sweatshirt is so comfy! I made it and then couldn’t take it off – always a sign of a good pattern for me (or laziness, but who’s asking!). Winter has suddenly arrived here in Norther Virginia and a hoodie is just what I needed to add to my closet. I have worn my first Halifax so many times since making it so I know this one will get a lot of wear as well.
I normally sew my knits on the serger, but I was too lazy to change the threads. Instead I sewed this on my sewing machine. I was sewing with Emily who reminded me of the amazing narrow zig zag stitch. It sews so fast! I use a zig zag stitch that is 2.5 long x 0.5 wide.
