Ginger Jeans in Ralph Lauren Denim from Mood It’s no secret that I love making my own jeans. That and jackets are probably my favorite thing to make because it really makes you feel like you have sewing super powers! [Also, the look on people’s faces when you tell them that you’ve made your jeans is pretty priceless.] I’ve been sprinkling my tips and tricks throughout my blog posts, but I thought it would be helpful to put together a beginners guide to sewing your own jeans that covers … View Post
I am really bad at planning the month of makes ahead of time, so moving forward, I’ve decided to have a monthly round up of my makes for the month. March was a busy month – coming out of my busiest time of the year at work and all the amazing patterns that were released this month led to a lot of sewing! I added 9 garments to my handmade closet this month. Tops: Ebony Tee from Closet Case Patterns in a jersey from Stitch Sew Shop Bonn Shirt from Itch to Stitch in a chambray … View Post
In the past few weeks, I’ve seen lots of Blackwood Cardigan’s by Helen’s Closet popping up left and right! As soon as it was released, I immediately downloaded it and added it to my queue of weekend sewing projects. I had this beautiful sweatshirt knit from Faberwood that I purchased earlier this year. I was waiting for the perfect project for this gorgeous knit and it was the perfect fit for this beautiful cardigan. I have been trying really hard to use up my stash when possible and this was … View Post
As a Ginger Jeans fan, I was so excited when Heather announced the Sew Your Dream Jeans online class and that it would include a mid-rise version of the amazing Ginger Jeans pattern. I’ve made two of the low rise Ginger Jeans and LOVE them, but a someone who isn’t a huge fan of high rise jeans on myself, a mid-rise was a nice compromise between the very low rise jeans to a higher rise pair of jeans. The class going live + a rare Friday off with nothing else to do led to a day of jeans sewing! … View Post
It’s time for another Me Made Monday! This week I’m talking about my Saiph Tunic by Paper Cut Patterns styled with my Ginger Jeans. I should really call this make My Love/Hate Relationship with Rayon. I saw this floral rayon at Stitch Sew Shop and knew immediately that it would be perfect for this project. It was such a great weight and texture and I knew the circle skirt would be so flowy with the rayon fabric! What I didn’t take into account is how finick-ey it was! Let’s not get … View Post
I have been a big Closet Case Pattern fan since I made my first pair of Ginger Jeans (worn above!) earlier this fall. I had a chance to meet Heather last weekend at Stitch Sew Shop while she had a workshop for making the Ginger Jeans – and although I couldn’t make the workshop I was so excited to meet her for a short bit on Sunday! She just came out with a new pattern – The Ebony Tee – and I couldn’t wait to sew it up! This was such a great Friday night sewing project. I had been seeing them … View Post
