Yay for making it to another Friday! It’s been quite a week for me as I can’t seem to shake this cold that I’ve been battling for two weeks now. Looking forward to some sewing to cure me of my sickness this weekend. Here are some of my favorites for the week that I think you might enjoy as well.
I love a good photo challenge and I saw Hart Fabric’s Photo Challenge pop up right before the beginning of the month. I started a little late (oops!) but I’m catching up. If you haven’t seen it – it’s not too late to join!
I really love the spirit of this challenge – its focus is on Self Care Sewing. I know for me, sewing, knitting or doing embroidery really can turn a bad day around for me. Something about taking that time to focus on something else really blocks out whatever happened during the rest of the day.
In their blog post (linked here) they talk about how sewing is a process – and a slow process at times. This really hits home for me given that one of my goals of 2017 was to slow down and enjoy the process to improve my sewing skills.
I’d love to have you join along! For more details see the Harts Fabric blog post and Instagram!
#SewMyStyle month one wrapped up this week and I was so amazed by the sewing community and the support for one another’s Toaster Sweaters. I cannot wait for month two. It’s been so exciting to have so many sewists from all over the world working on the same project each month. Endless amounts of inspiration and creativity. I was really elated on Wednesday evening opening my inbox to see that my Toaster 2 made it as one of Alex’s best 9! I was totally honored to be featured with some amazing sewists.
The Blue Bird Fabrics blog hosts a different blogger each month to discuss the upcoming month’s make. This month Jessica, from Little Miss Lorraine, blogged about a great hack for the Saunio cardigan. I think I want to try out her belted version. She has some really great tips for sewing up the Saunio – I’d highly recommend checking it out!
Speaking of #SewMyStyle, last week I talked about my choice of fabric. Lindsey from the Inside the Hem YouTube channel came out with a swatch review for fabric choices from Style Maker Fabrics. This was so helpful in making a decision! If you’re still stumped, take a look over at her channel for some additional advice – Style Maker Fabrics has so many great options (and they ship really quickly!) and it was so nice to see how they drape, how thick they were and some other thoughts on using them for the Saunio cardigan.
I chose a reversible quilted geometric knit in a light grey and the back side is a dark grey. It got delivered last night and I can’t wait to cut into it.
If you don’t follow Allie from Allie M Jackson on Instagram and follow her blog, you must do so immediately! She has the most beautiful vintage style and also for my non-sewing followers (hi friends!) she includes no-sew ready to wear options in some of her posts, which is amazing if you’re looking to get the look without sewing it!
Allie hosts a Social Sew link up each month, which is unfortunately coming to a close at the end of March. As a new blogger, I haven’t participated in the past. I jumped on the bandwagon this month and loved the theme – New Year, New Look. She featured my Milano Cape in her blog post on Monday.
Thanks Allie for hosting such a great linkup and I can’t wait for February’s theme of Date Night!
Those are my favorites for the week! I’d love for you to share anything you loved this week in the comments below – have a great weekend!
