This week I’ve found so much inspiration on Instagram and the internet for my sewing daydreams! I’ve mentioned before that January and February are my busy months of the year for work, so my sewing time is pretty limited. My sewing machine is also being repaired further throwing me into a sewing daydream! So, hopefully you find inspiration in some of my favorites from the week. I’ve wrapped up my #SewMyStyle January sewing with the Toaster Sweater by Sew House Seven. I blogged about it earlier this week here and now it’s time to think about February’s pattern + fabric choice!
This month’s pattern is the Saunio Cardigan by Named Patterns.
I’m really excited to see how this sews up. Like the Toaster Sweater, this would not be something I would initially gravitate towards, but am looking forward to sewing it. I think it could be a really great sweater for work and plan on adding a few inches to the bodice to make it less cropped.
I’ve been browsing some fabrics online and really want to make it in a sweater knit. How beautiful are these three from Style Maker Fabrics? I can’t choose what to order – I’m leaning towards the herringbone or grey textured knit.

Heather from Closet Case Files was at Stitch Sew Shop this weekend for a workshop. I swung by on Sunday to meet her and got really excited about her new pattern – the Ebony Tee! I picked up my copy from Stitch and have been dreaming about making one.
I can’t decide exactly what view I want to do, but I’m thinking of doing the cropped version with the scoop neck and set in sleeve but adding 4″ or so to make it less of a crop top. I really like the set in sleeve as opposed to the raglan sleeve so I think I’ll stick with Version A (Dress (shortened), jewel neckline and long sleeve) or View B (Cropped Shirt (lengthened), scoop neckline, 3/4 length sleeve). I think I can do most of this on the serger which is good for my lack of sewing machine at the moment!
The Lonetree Jacket and Vest are on my #2017MakeNine and this weekend I’m going to get started on it! I ordered two kits from Indiesew – one in a navy twill and one in a slate twill and can’t decide which one I want to be the vest versus the jacket! At the time of writing this, there are a few kits left if you wanted to check them out here!
I think I’m leaning towards the navy for the jacket and the the slate for the vest. We’ve been having really warm winter weather here in the DC area so if I finish it in February I should be able to wear it as a late-winter and spring jacket.
Learning to sew has made me realize my reliance on tags in RTW garments! I have been seeing so many cute labels that sewists use on their clothes and I finally took the plunge and got labels from Dutch Logo Shop. I chose a white label with gold lettering. Although I think in the next round of labels I would use a bigger font size, I really like them! I chose the iron on style so I don’t forget to sew them on!
Those have been my sources of inspiration this week! Hopefully this weekend is full of sewing for you – I have a sewing date with a friend of mine to get started on our Lonetree jackets this Sunday and I can’t wait. Have a great weekend!
