I don’t want to jump the gun on this search, but I think I might have found my perfect t-shirt here. I’ve been enjoying this series so much because each pattern is a little different from the next and everyone has a different definition of a “perfect” t-shirt. That being said, this might be mine! The Union St. Tee is a basic tee from Hey June Handmade with lots of different customization options. There are four sleeve lengths – short, elbow, 3/4 and long – and two neckline options – scoop … View Post

One of my favorite of the 5 lessons I learned in my first year of sewing was that you never have to be beholden to the fashion world’s definition of seasons. Last week I sent off my Kelly Anorak pattern to the copy shop to get printed with the thought I’d like to make one by the fall. But Thursday, when it arrived, it was cold and rainy here in Virginia and despite it being Memorial Day Weekend, I decided it would be nice to have the Kelly to wear. With the day off on Friday, I got sewing. … View Post

Happy Memorial Day weekend – I hope everyone’s weekend is off to a great start and you’ve set aside lots of sewing time! I’m so excited to share my Laurel Top which is featured on the Minerva Crafts Blog today. I’ve never sewn a Colette pattern, but ever since I started sewing I’ve had my eye on the top version of the Laurel pattern. Those gathered sleeves make my heart sing! I chose a vintage floral poplin fabric to make my version out of and was very happy with how it turns out. I’m … View Post

I think when I started this journey I didn’t realize how many t-shirt patterns have a dress option as well! It’s been really fun as I’ve been making the t-shirts to also make the dress version. I do think that just because the dress version is perfect, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the t-shirt version is or vis versa. My initial goal in this series was to find the perfect everyday staple t-shirt – you know the one you wear with shorts every day during the summer? While some of these aren’t … View Post

It’s another Me Made Monday around here and I’m really excited to share my Penelope Peplum from See Kate Sew! It’s got florals and a circle skirt – so it’s right up my ally! Yesterday I talked about five things I learned in my first year of sewing, and my love of florals was one of those things – so this top is highly appropriate! The Penelope Peplum is a knit top with multiple sleeve length and the original pattern comes with a gathered skirt. See Kate Sew has an add on pack to add a … View Post

I can’t believe it’s been one year since I entered the world of garment sewing! If you had told me a year ago, that I would have sewn one garment let alone replace almost my whole wardrobe with handmade clothing, I would have laughed in your face! I bough a sewing machine in early 2016 only with the intention of learning how to make project bags for my knitting projects. I was never that great at it, and try as I might, I couldn’t teach myself very well. I took a sewing class at a place in … View Post
