The Indy Brew Bus: Our Story

The craft beer business in Indianapolis has grown significantly in the past couple of years, and aside from renting an entire party bus or limo, there wasn’t an easy, economical way to visit the various breweries. We wanted to create a way for people to do this no matter if it was one person in town for work, or a large group celebrating a birthday.

The Indy Brew Bus was created in March 2012 by two Hoosier craft beer lovers and husband and wife team, Andy and Megan Bulla. What started as a one-bus operation offering two weekly Saturday tours, has grown to three buses offering 12 tours Thursdays through Sundays.

We love doing our part to showcase all that Indianapolis has to offer. We love when someone from out of town takes our tour and they are pleasantly surprised that Indianapolis has the package deal- great local shops and restaurants, cultural events, a vibrant downtown… and great local beer!

Indy Brew Bus launches Greenwood Brewery Tour

The Indy Brew Bus plans to launch a new tour route that will be based out of Greenwood, Ind. and will visit the following craft breweries:  Mashcraft Brewing (1140 N State Road 135 Greenwood), Taxman Brewing Co. (13 S. Baldwin St. Bargersville), Planetary Brewing Co. (500 Polk Street, Suite 22, Greenwood) and Oaken Barrel Brewing Co (50 Airport Parkway, Greenwood). The tour will launch on Sundays starting on March 1. Each brewery offers a wide variety of house, seasonal and specialty beers.

“We’re looking forward to the opportunity of introducing locals and visitors alike to even more Indiana craft beer options,” said Megan Bulla, co-owner of the Indy Brew Bus. “Johnson County has some terrific craft breweries that we hope our guests will enjoy as much as we do.”

All southside tours will start and end at Shallo’s Antique Restaurant & Brewhaus (8811 Hardegan Street, Indianapolis). The Shallo’s parking lot is accessible for Indy Brew Bus passengers, who are encouraged to stop in and grab a pint or lunch before or after the tour.  The tour includes transportation from Shallo’s to four breweries on a three-hour tour, 15-25 samples of craft beer, bottles of water on the bus, coolers on board to keep your purchased growlers cold, a Personal Sampling Scorecard and the unforgettable experience of drinking with friends on a bright green school bus.

Tickets for the Indy Brew Bus are $30 each, are sold individually and can be purchased by visiting www.indybrewbus.com.
